The tiny island of Schinoussa is located south of Naxos and it is part of the Small Cyclades island group. Schinoussa Island belongs to the complex of Small Cyclades and is approximately 9 square kilometers. It is slightly remote and not touristy, which makes it an excellent hidden getaway for visitors who enjoy an unspoiled natural landscape. Schinoussa is named for the mastic tree shrubs growing all over the island.
Its ideal location makes it a perfect base for island hopping to the nearby islands of Koufonisia, Donoussa, Iraklia and Naxos. Just like the rest of the Small Cyclades islands, it is a remote paradise, ideal for those who want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Swimming in the cool crystalline waters at any of the no less than 18 beaches of the island is recommended.
Places of Interest: Antiquities, traditional villages, secluded beaches & great food.
